Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly 2000 years. It looks at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. Today, clinical trials confirm its efficacy and more and more people are able to benefit as acupuncture becomes a recognised option within standard healthcare.

Traditional acupuncturists believe that the underlying principle is that illness and pain occur when the body’s qi or vital energy, cannot flow freely. Common causes include emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, hereditary dispositions, infection and injury.

Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points in the body to affect the flow of your body’s qi or vital energy. The aim is to direct the flow of qi to trigger your body’s healing response and to restore physical, emotional and mental equilibrium.
